I Have Oily Skin, What Can I Do?

Don’t shy away from skincare if you have oily/combination skin!

Use a gentle face wash, don’t go for anything too harsh as this can irritate your skin and increase oil production.

Don’t skip moisturiser - just because your skin is oily it doesn’t mean you can miss this vital step in your skincare routine. In fact, skipping moisturiser can actually cause your skin to become dry and dehydrated, making it produce even MORE oil to counteract this! So moisturise twice a day for optimum skin health.

Try not to touch your face too much, and use blotting papers throughout the day to absorb excess oil.

I Have A Spot That Needs To Go Quick...HELP?!

If your Mum/Sister/Aunt/Grandma/Bestie never told you to put Sudocrem on a spot, then you probably weren’t around in the 90’s. The great news is that this is an age-old tip that really works!

The antiseptic ingredients in Sudocrem (mainly Benzyl alcohol) are really effective at reducing spots, and Zinc Oxide is great for soothing any inflammation and redness, therefore providing quick calming and healing.

Tea Tree essential oil is also highly effective when used on mild or moderate acne. Tea Tree Oil is a fantastic natural antiseptic, antibacterial and anti fungal solution to dab on any unwanted facial visitors. It can dry spots out healing them up quicker. You can mix several drops of tea tree oil into your usual face products or apply a few drops directly to a blemish as a spot treatment.

#6

How Often Should I Exfoliate?

Removing dead skin cells to reveal brighter, smoother skin? Yes please!

Exfoliation is a necessary skincare step to remove build up of dirt, dry skin and excess oils that can lead to clogged pores and, yep, breakouts!

You should exfoliate your skin once or twice a week if you have normal, dry or combination skin. For oily and acne prone skin types, you can increase this to two to three times per week to avoid dead skin cells from building up and causing you issues.

#7

Does It Matter When I Do My Skincare?

Ideally, and for best results, skincare should be a routine that you do twice a day - in the morning and at night time.

Morning skincare is to refresh, prepare and protect your skin for the day ahead. Lighter formulas can be applied to treat, prime and prep for makeup.

Applying your AM skincare as soon as you wake up allows time for absorption before you apply your makeup or head out the door.

In the PM you can bring out the big guns - we’re talking cleansing balms, serums, enzyme treatments, oils, overnight masks, rich moisturisers, whatever you need to treat your skin to some TLC.

This is because at night your skin is in repair mode - it absorbs and replenishes while you sleep!

#8

Can I Use Retinol With Sensitive Skin?

You can absolutely use retinol if you have sensitive skin, however we would advise to start with a low concentration a couple of times a week at first to help your skin adjust to its effects, as retinol side effects can include:

Redness

Dry/flaky skin

Irritation

Burning sensation

Peeling

Not up for the adjustment period? Luckily, there is a natural ingredient that provides all the benefits of retinol without any of the side effects!

Bakuchiol is derived from the Indian Babchi plant and is known as the ‘natural retinol’ ingredient. It’s lifting, firming and skin smoothing properties mimic those of Retinol without causing any irritation to the skin.

Our hybrid Oil-Serum contains 2% Bakuchiol, and fuses the nourishing benefits of a facial oil with the potent skin-correcting action of a targeted serum to provide powerful results. Bakuchiol will refresh, renew and rejuvenate your complexion, fading dark spots and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles!
